Texas' Kerr County -

Devastating floodwaters that washed away homes and cars in Kerr County have claimed the lives of at least 68 individuals.  The bodies of forty adults and twenty-eight children have been recovered thus far, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha announced on Sunday.  The identities of 28 of the victims are still being sought by authorities.  Ten girls and one counselor from a Christian summer camp along the Guadalupe River are among those who have gone missing.  Eleven further deaths have been recorded in various parts of the state.

With this, 82 people have died as a result of the flooding that occurred over the July 4th weekend in Central Texas.  At least ten Camp Mystic campers are still unaccounted for, despite the fact that 68 fatalities have been confirmed in Kerr County alone.  Governor Greg Abbott issued a warning that more public safety risks could arise if there is more severe rain over the course of the next two days.  Among those killed in this weekend's floodwaters was Jane Ragsdale, owner of the Heart O' the Hills Camp.  She is referred to as "the heart and soul of Heart O' the Hills" on the camp's website.  Luckily, there were no campers there because the floods occurred during a break in the camp session.

A statement encouraging people to participate in prayer for the missing was released by the White House Faith Office on Sunday evening.  "Our nation must unite in prayer for the victims, their families, and the first responders who are working tirelessly to find the missing in the midst of this tragedy," the statement said.  "May God envelop all Texans in His tender embrace."  Later this week, according to President Donald Trump, he will travel to Texas.  "Probably on Friday," he informed reporters.

According to the Texas Military Department

It has helped save 520 lives thus far.  As of right now, officials have confirmed that 68 people—40 adults and 28 children—had perished in Kerr County.  The ten campers and one counselor from Camp Mystic are the focus of ongoing search efforts for the missing.  Governor Abbott went on to say that the forthcoming special legislative session will focus heavily on emergency response.
