AMERICAN IDOL:
During the American Idol Finale, Jessica Simpson makes her stage comeback with her first live performance in fifteen years.
At the May 18 American Idol Season 23 finale, Simpson celebrated her first live performance in 15 years. She performed Nancy Sinatra's 2005 hit song "These Boots Are Made for Walkin" and debuted her next single, "Blame Me," during the performance.
A portion of the audience was positive, but others voiced their disapproval on social media. Some decided to call the performance "a joke" and "a mess." One critic said, "I'm sorry, but I thought she sounded awful." "Jessica Simpson completely flopped on American Idol tonight," wrote another critic, who was unhappy with Simpson's performance.
It was "painful to watch," according to a number of other audience members.
"People will always try to tarnish someone's shine, and she looked great," Simpson's supporters said in defense of the singer. She deserves a lot of praise for enjoying herself on stage.
One fan remarked, "Remember that she may be among the most photographed individuals on the planet; appearing on stage at any time ensures criticism." The singer of "With You" may have been nervous about doing live on TV for the first time in years, according to a number of comments.
The fact that "she knows people love to bash her online" is one explanation. Another of them said: "Seeing her return to the stage was fantastic! She looked stunning!
